About Our History
We started TOP TOTS to create the best preschool environment for our own daughter. Today, families who put their trust in us feel like part of ours. Our commitment to help your child realize the lifelong benefits of education and community underlies our motto that “Great Starts Never End”.
Meet Our Team
Irene and Bill Aschenbach
Irene Meira Aschenbach is a 20+ year early education veteran who spent time at Les Petits Nursery School, Lawrence Daycare Program, and School is Cool here in Brookline before opening TOP TOTS. She is originally from Minas Gerais, Brazil and completed her University studies in Portuguese and English at Fundação Nordeste Mineiro (FENORD). “Miss Irene” has developed an extraordinarily loyal network of students and parents due to her loving, caring, and personalized approach to teaching.
Bill Aschenbach earned education degrees from Virginia Tech and Auburn University, a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School, and his MBA from Boston College. Bill has committed his professional career to advancing knowledge and understanding across the globe.
Together, Irene and Bill bring a combination of experience and skills that no other childcare Center in the area can offer.
Our Team of Educators
How many times have you heard someone at work say “we’re like family”? Well at TOP TOTS, its actually true. Members of our own family make up most of our staff. What this means for you and your child is that an entire family cares for them throughout the day, and unlike most other centers where teachers come and go you’ll see the same, familiar faces greeting you at TOP TOTS every single day for years. Consistency is key!

Sometimes simple amazing days just aren’t enough, so every so on (and on) we turn it up a notch. Frequent field trips to Boston Commons, Museum of Science, to the Zoo, the Post Office, the Fire Station, Trader Joes, apple picking, trick-or-treating, visits to the farm to see animals, visits with police officers, frequent visits with our senior citizen neighbors, an annual summer Olympics, charity food drives and donations to local pantries, and too many more to list will ensure your child flourishes while they are with us. And, our special events throughout the year bring everyone together for Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandparents Day, annual Thanksgiving pot-luck dinners and winter holiday concerts, birthday parties and more will help your entire family flourish and form connections with other families. It takes a village and we do whatever we can to build one.
Security Matters: Your Peace of Mind
When caring for your child, we take security very seriously. Some of our enhanced security features at TOP TOTS include:
- Controlled access to our Center. Our doors can only opened by authorized individuals who are provided with a valid access card. Families will be provided with access cards upon enrolling so they can enter for drop-off in the morning and pick-up in the afternoon.
- Digital check-in and check-out. Parents are greeted in the lobby by TOP TOTS staff for digital check-in and drop-off via Brightwheel. If another authorized person drops off or picks up your child, parents are notified immediately when that happens via their Brightwheel app.
- Security cameras. Video security cameras are installed in our Center Lobby, and in all Toddler and Pre-School/Pre-Kindergarten classrooms to ensure the safety of our students.
- Screened team. All of our team members undergo extensive background checks.
- Familiar faces. Most of our team consists of our own family members. We know them, and so will you.
